The Massapequa Basketball Booster Club reports that the Lady Chiefs won the Sixth Annual Wantagh Basketball Tournament on Dec. 14. This was the first time that the Lady Chiefs came in first place in this tournament.

The team is shown here. From left to right are: (standing) Lin Sapanski, Megan Busch, Colette Carpenter, Kathryn Carpenter, Kellie McDonough, Jessica Acquaviva; (kneeling): Lindsay Monfort, Jen Bloom, Noreen Sapanski, Kellie Stuart, Jessica Powers, Katie Lyons, Brittney Messina.

On Tuesday, Dec. 12 the Chiefs beat Garden City, with All-American Bethany LeSeur, 60 to 48. On Thursday, Dec. 14, the Lady Chiefs overcame the Wantagh team 58-33.

The following players were presented with trophies for their performances: Kellie Stuart - tournament MVP and Kathryn Carpenter - tournament team.

The varsity team consists of seniors Jen Bloom, Captain Megan Busch, Captain Colette Carpenter, Lindsay Monfort; Juniors Katie Lyons, Captain Jessica Powers, Noreen Sapanski, Kellie Stuart; sophomores Jessica Acquaviva, Kathryn Carpenter, Kellie McDonough, Lin Sapanski and eighth grader Brittney Messina.

The team is coached by Shari Roessler and assistant Todd Rueb.
