Recently I have followed with great interest the concerns of village officials regarding plans for the renovation of the Massapequa Park shopping areas.

As a village resident for over 35 years, I am reminded of a master plan in the early '70s, which proposed similar improvements. The recommendations presented at that time were summarized in a 110-page brochure prepared by a hired planning consultant firm.

To the best of my recollection, many of these recommendations were never implemented. Specifically, the objectives to retain the existing residential environment, to better utilize the commercial areas and the acquisition of additional recreational land.

It is my hope that the present administration has a great success with their efforts to protect the quality of life for this community.
