The week of Oct. 23 has been designated School Board Recognition Week by Governor George Pataki. On behalf of the Syosset Central School District administration, faculty, and staff I'd like to publicly thank our board of education for the important work they do.
The Syosset schools are very fortunate to have a nine-member board in which every trustee is committed to providing our students with the best educational experience possible. As active members of the community and parents of students and graduates of the Syosset schools, our trustees make it a priority to be responsive to the community's needs and values.
Each of our board members, President Janet Cox, Vice President Dr. Marc Herman, and Trustees Anthony J. Alizzi, Maria A. Anderson, Shari Dorfman, Leonard D. Kirsch, Patricia A. Maschio, Ellen Meller and Wendy Stapen are dedicated to maintaining the standard of excellence that has made the Syosset School District so successful. The leadership of the board of education has enabled the district to earn the US Department of Education Blue Ribbon Award in each of our secondary schools. The Syosset school district is in strong demand by parents, and is the primary reason that families move into the community. The board's proposal and support of the infrastructure improvements bond will ensure that Syosset has the resources to meet the needs of all the residents of the district.
Each member of the board gives voluntarily of his or her time and energy. They have our gratitude for a job very well done.
Dr. Carole G. Hankin
Superintendent of Syosset Schools
