Andrew E. Collins, of Massapequa, died on Aug. 8, 2000. He was a retired lieutenant with NCPD. Husband of Irene. Father of Drew, Donna, John, Kevin, Timmy, Lorraine, Jeanne, Katie, Michael and Joseph. Grandfather of 14. Arrangements were made by the Massapequa Funeral Home. Robert E. Stuhler, 76, of Massapequa, died on Aug. 9, 2000. He was born in Manhattan and graduated from Newtown High School and Poytech University with a master's degree in electrical engineering. He achieved the highest degree of engineering from Columbia University and continued his education receiving a master's degree in marine science from C.W. Post and a doctorate in philosophy from Union University.
Mr. Stuhler was president and chief executive of his own business the Pile Foundation Co. He later sold his business to pursue teaching. He was a fellow in the Explorer's Club and he handled communications between Thor Hyerdahl and the US when Hyerdahl traveled on the Tigris River. Mr. Stuhler was president of the Lions Club in LIC and the LI Marine Science Association. He was on the board of Hempstead General Hospital and was a member of the NY Academy of Sciences and of Sigma Xi, international honor society for scientific and engineering research.
Mr. Stuhler is survived by his wife, June; his daughter, Linda Behling; and granddaughters, Summer and Savannah. Interment St. Charles Cemetery.
