Participants in the annual "Massapequa Cares Day," held at the Northport Veteran's Hospital on April 1, have reported that the program was a great success. Massapequa's girls' varsity basketball team has won the Long Island Championship - again! This was the second trip to Troy for three of the team's starters, including seniors Lauren Carone, Michele Ciquera and junior Colette Carpenter. The Lady Chiefs defeated Longwood High School in the regionals, to win the Long Island Championship. The team then traveled to Troy, NY and won the semi-finals against Canandaigua in overtime, but lost in the finals to Ursaline. FULL STORY
