Massapequa Cares Day a Success
Participants in the annual "Massapequa Cares Day," held at the Northport Veteran's Hospital on April 1, have reported that the program was a great success. Tom Banks, past commandant of the Marine Corps League, worked tirelessly planning the event, supported by both the mayor and board of trustees of the Village of Massapequa Park.

Massapequa and Plainedge School Districts to Hold Budget Hearings
Residents will have an opportunity to voice their comments about the proposed 2000-2001 budgets for Massapequa and Plainedge Public Schools on May 9, when the districts hold separate public hearings about each financial plan.

Lady Chiefs Long Island Champions - Again!
Massapequa's girls' varsity basketball team has won the Long Island Championship - again! This was the second trip to Troy for three of the team's starters, including seniors Lauren Carone, Michele Ciquera and junior Colette Carpenter. The Lady Chiefs defeated Longwood High School in the regionals, to win the Long Island Championship. The team then traveled to Troy, NY and won the semi-finals against Canandaigua in overtime, but lost in the finals to Ursaline.
