Local soccer player Katie Johnston recently marked a significant accomplishment. As a regional player, Johnston, a junior at Massapequa High School, was invited to Tucson, Arizona over the Thanksgiving holiday. She was the only player in the Eastern Region to qualify for the U-16 National Pool, a select group of approximately 36 women soccer players in the country.

Additionally, Katie plays club ball for HBC Magic, state champions for the last two years. She's an all-county defender for Massapequa High School, New York State Olympic Development Team, and Regional Team.
