Blue and gold balloons filled the Massapequa High School gym on Friday, Jan. 21, as the Lady Chiefs and the Boys Varsity Basketball teams celebrated the millennium by defeating their opponents.
The Lady Chiefs defeated Freeport with ease and are working hard to regain their Long Island Championship title. The Girls Varsity Basketball team is comprised of returning seniors Lauren Carone and Michelle Ciquera, returning juniors Meghan Busch and Colette Carpenter, returning sophomores Kelly Stuart and Jessica Powers. The varsity team welcomes juniors Lindsay Monfort and Jen Bloom, sophomore Noreen Sapanski and freshmen Kathryn Carpenter, Jessica Aquaviva and Linda Sapanski.
Each member of the Lady Chiefs received a beautiful bouquet of flowers from a member of the Boys Varsity team during half-time, to further celebrate the evening.
The Boys Varsity Basketball team is experiencing a very successful season so far, with a winning record, and are looking forward to playoffs.
The Boys Varsity team is comprised of returning seniors Matt Mason, James Barile, Peter Calvello, Ryan Tyas, Kevin McSwiggan and returning juniors Brian Seidenberg and Tom Femminella. The varsity team welcomes juniors Sean MacCorkindale, Joe Bonomo and Scott Burker; sophomore Dan DiMartino and freshman Kyle Byrne. The Boys Varsity team is coached by Marty Voight.
