Through the efforts of Assemblyman Steven Labriola, the Greater Long Island Athletic Club has received a legislative initiative grant in the amount of $2,500 to help support its growing program of promoting wheelchair athletics here on Long Island. The money will be used to defray the costs of the club-sponsored Wheelchair Championship 10 Kilometer Race that is held in Farmingdale every June, and to help coordinate Long Island's program with a national effort to strengthen wheelchair athletic programs.

"We are thrilled with the support that has been provided to us by Assemblyman Labriola," announced Nick Katsounis, the Club's director of wheelchair athletics, who resides in Massapequa. "He is a true friend of wheelchair athletes, and we especially appreciate the fact that he always delivers on what he promises."
