Question of the Week: What was the highlight of Yankee pitcher David Cone's perfect game?
Here's what some local residents had to say about the game on July 18, during which David Cone became only the fifteenth pitcher in Major League Baseball history to pitch a perfect game.
"I guess I would say the eighth inning, Chuck Knoblauch, up the middle, made a great play and gunned the guy out. With Chuck having such a bad season, it's just...he was tough as nails," said Massapequa Park resident Justin Platzer, 22.
"I think Ricky Ledee's catch in left field was the most exciting because he bobbled it. I mean, the last out was the most dramatic, but the play by Ledee...I thought he was gonna drop it and he held on," said Massapequa Park resident Jessica Claus, 21.
"I think the best part was Knoblauch's play at second, cause I really thought it was going through. That or O'Neill's diving catch in right field," said Massapequa resident Joe Carbone, 24.
"The best was when Coney pitched the last pitch and Brosius made the out. Coney just fell to his knees and everybody went crazy," said Massapequa Park resident Melissa Teehan, 22.
"I think the best was O'Neill's diving catch in the first. It was just such an amazing play...that's when you knew this was gonna be a big game," said Massapequa resident Eric Bayreuther, 20.
