Assemblyman Steve Labriola applauded the launching of the Neighborhood Youth Park Summer Program at Marjorie Post Park in the Town of Oyster Bay. The lawmaker explained that the program was made possible through a partnership between the Nassau County Police Department, the Town of Oyster Bay Department of Parks and Recreation, the YES Community Counseling Center, and the Massapequa School District.
Residents of the Town of Oyster Bay who are between the ages of 14 - 18 are welcome to participate in the program which will operate every Monday and Wednesday night from mid July until the end of August.
"The Neighborhood Youth Park Summer Program will provide local school-age children with fun and safe activities during the summer," said Labriola. "I'm thrilled with the cooperative efforts of the town, county, schools and private interests in helping make this initiative a reality, and I am delighted to have played a part in bringing the program to fruition."
Labriola explained that the program has been made available in part through a state grant he personally secured in last year's state budget.
"As a father, I know how difficult it is for families to strike a balance between fun activities and their children's safety. I secured the grant money to support this initiative as part of my ongoing effort to ensure our children have fun and safe activities available to them during the summer months," said Labriola
