Thirty students from Long Island high schools were recognized as EAB/News 12 Scholar Athletes at a recent awards ceremony. Edward Travaglianti, EAB's chairman and chief executive officer, awarded $40,000 in scholarship monies to the students. With assistance from News 12 Long Island's Sports Director Bob Wolff, each recipient was awarded a $1,000 scholarship in recognition of the student's excellence in academics and athletics.
In addition to their $1,000 four students were awarded additional scholarship funds. They are:
* Leif-Ann Reilly of Smithtown High School, received an additional $4,000 award from EAB,
* Kevin Cassese, of Comsewogue High School in Port Jefferson Station, Elizabeth Ott, of Southampton High School and Michael Metzger of The Wheatley School in Old Westbury, each received an additional $2,000 from EAB.
Among those honored by EAB/News 12 was Elizabeth Giancola of Massapequa High School who received a $1,000 scholarship.
