Thirty students from Long Island high schools were recognized as EAB/News 12 Scholar Athletes at a recent awards ceremony. Edward Travaglianti, EAB's chairman and chief executive officer, awarded $40,000 in scholarship monies to the students. With assistance from News 12 Long Island's Sports Director Bob Wolff, each recipient was awarded a $1,000 scholarship in recognition of the student's excellence in academics and athletics. Massapequa Park was proud to have the Massapequa Roadrunners host their 19th Annual Firecracker 5K Run in the village. The race took place on the afternoon of July 4 with approximately 500 runners, despite unusually hot weather. FULL STORY
