Despite hurricanes and wars, famine and drought, Long Island's tennis players are helping to create a world without hunger. Registration is now underway for the 19th Annual "Stop World Hunger" Tennis Tournament, which runs from July 1 to Aug. 31.
All entry fees and donations will be forwarded to Catholic Relief Services to assist in its effort to circle the world with love. CRS is helping to feed God's hungry children in more than 70 countries, including the Balkans, Colombia, Sudan and the hurricane ravaged lands of Central America. Assistance is provided based upon need regardless of race, religion, and/or nationality.
Besides helping others, Long Island's tennis players have an opportunity to play some spirited tennis matches. The format consists of no elimination, round-robin play. Matches are best two out of three sets. There are divisions for men's and women's singles, as well as men's, women's and mixed doubles. The cost is $6 for singles events and $10 for doubles.
