Following the Easter Break, the Massapequa High Girls' Lacrosse team resumed Conference play on Wednesday, April 16. They traveled to Long Beach to take on the Marines.
The Chiefs won 10-6.
Diana Rapacki made 11 saves in goal, Stephanie Petrucelli put in 3 goals, Danielle Andriano had 2, Jamie Considine, Collette Carpenter, Marin Schlossberg, Lindsay Wolf and Joanie Reese with 1 each.
Friday found the Chiefs at home in the rain, but the game went on. Conditions were inhospitable for the visiting Highlanders of Herricks High School. Even more inhospitable was the treatment the Chiefs gave the visitors. In a game that was never in doubt, the Chiefs won 11-3. The defense was led by winger Gina Purpora. Lindsay Wolf had 3 goals, Chrissie Mark, Marin Schlossberg and Stephanie Petrucelli had 2 each with Jamie Considine and Collette Carpenter with 1.
Monday, the girls took on the Jets of East Meadow, home of former Met pitcher Frank Viola. Massapequa won 6-4. Outstanding defense was the story of this game. Kim Thompson was tenacious in the crease. She was supported by the hard-nosed play of Marissa D'Agosto and Gina Purpora. Stephanie Petrucelli remained hot, scoring 4 goals, Jamie Considine and Marin Schlossberg had one each. Diana Rapacki had 9 saves.
Goalie Diana Rapacki will play Division 1 lacrosse at Mercyhurst College, Erie, Pennsylvania. The two year varsity starter will be a scholarship player at the college. Rapacki is known for her highly aggressive style of play.
