Friday afternoon was cold and wet, perfect for lacrosse as the Chiefs' hosted the girls lacrosse team from the Royal School of Haslemere, Surrey, England. In the first moments of the game Philippa Geering scored, and it looked like a rough afternoon for the Chiefs. Massapequa was able to regroup after Stephanie Pettrocelli evened the score.

The Massapequa defense, led by Kim Thompson, Sarah Scott and Diana Rapacki, tightened up and held the Royal School to four more goals, two more by Geering and two by Emma Dudley. The Chiefs' attack was led by Lindsay Wolf with four goals, Lisa Torre and Stephanie Petrocelli with two each and Gina Purpora, Marin Schlossberg and Jamie Considine each scored one. The final score was 11-5.
Following the game a reception was held at Massapequa High School. The local girls presented the English visitors with commemorative t-shirts supplied by the Booster Club. The Royal School girls presented a plaque to Massapequa High to commemorate the event. The visitors spent Friday night at the homes of the Massapequa girls, and left to tour New York City on Saturday morning.
The Royal School team arrived in America March 30 and have played eight games with high schools from Maryland to Connecticut, finishing at Massapequa. The team reports that they have learned much in their visit. They finished their American experience Sunday night.
