The Massapequa Rascals Girls U10 Soccer Travel Team won their second indoor tournament in as many tries.

Playing in a two division playoff format for the first time, the girls proved again to be one of the top teams in their age group for all of Long Island.

During the preliminary rounds the Rascals won four times and tied twice, while not allowing any goals to be scored on them. The potent offense was led by Shannon Rogers, Samantha Fried and Cassie Zdrojeski. The smothering defense, which allowed only one goal the entire tournament was led by Krystal Cantos, Heather Fusco, Arianna Kurtin, Hannah Sklar and Katie Oehl.

The semifinals was a fantastic match with the Rascals beating the Plainedge/Old Bethpage girls. This set up a final of the two heavyweights, Massapequa and Oceanside.

In one of the finest matches you'll ever see, the two teams fought their hearts out, with Massapequa winning 2 - 1 on goals by Shannon Rogers and Samantha Fried - each girl assisted on the other's goal.

Special mention must be made about the goal tender - Caitlin Trupiano. Cast into goal due to injury, Trupiano's performance was nothing short of brilliant, prompting opponents to gasp at her amazing saves.

And yes - to Coach Vet and Japhet - great job!
