Even though Massapequa High School senior Christie Welsh is a veteran when it comes to playing soccer, she is continually increasing her level of experience and exposure in the sport.

Recently, she was invited by the United States Soccer Federation (USSF) to participate on the Under-18 Women's National Team in an Inter-Regional tournament in Orlando, FL, as one of only 20 girls nationally. While there, Christie was seen by the coach of the Under-21 national team and was invited to extend her stay for further training. Additionally, she has been selected to join the Under-18 Women's National Team at an international competition in February.

The USSF is the national governing body for soccer in the Untied States and prepares all 10 national teams for domestic and international competitions such as the Olympics, World Cup and US Cup.
