Following the elections, the establishment press worked overtime to portray relatively poor Republican showing as proof positive that the voters do not support impeachment. Few politicians, including Congressman Peter King, seemed to challenge that interpretation. We have been misled by this powerful press as to the real issues and have been constantly irritated by repeated airing of sordid details of President Clinton's escapades. The Lewinsky scandal has been used to hide more serious scandals.
The tragedy of all this is not just the perjury, bribery and treason by our president, but the consistent inaction by Congressman Peter King in this situation. His recent announcement that he sees no grounds for impeachment, especially he is aware of the information of the Judicial Watch report and other information borders on negligence of his Constitutional duty. Apparently, his position in a safe Congressional district allows him to practice mediocrity and ignore his Constitutional duty. One wonders why anyone concerned with Constitutional government would vote for him again.
