As the new co-editors of the Massapequan Observer, we would like to take this opportunity to introduce ourselves to you, our readers.

Many of you may have already seen articles that I, Andrea Morale, have written, that have appeared in this paper. As editor of the Farmingdale Observer for the past two years, a position which I will maintain, I have covered issues that affect both Farmingdale and Massapequa. With shared areas of concern that range from environmental hazards to education, it is clear that the communities have much in common. While continuing to keep you abreast of these matters, I am eager to explore the characteristics which make the Massapequas unique.

As the editor of the Levittown Tribune I, Susie Trenkle, have also covered several issues that have affected Massapequa in the past year, ranging from politics to community hospital takeovers. I am looking forward to covering more of the stories that affect the Massapequas. I have had the opportunity to meet several community leaders in the past week, since taking this position, and I am looking forward to getting to know other community members in the coming months.

Combining our energies and talents, we plan to build upon the foundations laid by previous editors who have worked so hard to expand this paper. Comprehensive coverage of key aspects of community life such as school, government, and social activities will continue to be a priority.

Your input and contributions are welcomed and encouraged as we seek to achieve the goals we have set for this paper. It is the people who make a community what it is and are therefore an integral part of the Massapequan Observer.

It has been evident through our first encounters with the Massapequas that it is a diverse community with an interesting story to be told. From an ever-changing and vibrant incorporated village, to waterfront homes, to suburban neighborhoods, it is the history and the people that tie this community together. We are looking forward to representing all aspects of this multi-faceted community.
