Hard work on the field has earned countless Massapequa High School teams trophies, championships and accolades. But, it's hard work in the classroom that has put eight Massapequa High School varsity teams in the spotlight recently.

By earning, as a group, overall grade point averages in excess of 90 percent, these eight teams have received the designation of Scholar Athlete Teams by the New York State Public High School Athletic Association. This is a particularly impressive feat for the varsity football squad as it has the largest number of players of any team in the high school. This is the team's first such honor.

The Scholar Athlete Teams and their team averages are:
Girls Tennis 96.6
Girls Cross Country 96.5
Girls Soccer 95.2
Golf 95.2
Girls Volleyball 94.3
Field Hockey 94.2
Boys Cross Country 90.8
Football 90.3
