Obituaries
Robert Barclay, formerly of Massapequa, died on Oct. 3, 1998. Born on July 30, 1928 in Elmhurst, son of Robert W. and Avon Derosier Barclay. He was a WWII Army veteran and a retired court officer. Mr. Barclay was a member of Mariner Methodist Church, Spring Hill, FL, Bethpage Masonic Lodge #975 and chairperson of the High Ridge Square Club, Brookridge, FL. Husband of Marion Rose. Father of Robert W., Roy, Barbara Rothenberg and Lorene Barclay. Brother of one sister and one brother. Grandfather of five. Services at the Community United Methodist Church with Rev. Lori Van Norden officiating. Interment National Cemetery. Donations can be made to the Community U.M. Church, 100 Park Blvd., Massapequa, NY 11762 or Hospice of Orange, 800 Stony Brook Ct., Newburgh, NY 12550. Joseph Alexander Lipp Sr., formerly of Massapequa Park, died recently. Lifetime Long Islander with Johanna, he has four children. Father of Joan, Jean, Joseph Jr. and John. Grandfather of Joseph, Jill, Jay, Kelli, Jim, Ed, Andrew and Jason. Arrangements were made by Sinnickson's Funeral Home, Center Moriches. Services at St. John's Evangelist RC Church.

Dorothea Miller Cogane, 88, of Massapequa, died on Oct. 6, 1998. Born in Superior, WI, she was raised in Chisholm, MN. Mrs. Cogane trained under German piano master Richard Singer and studied at the Conservatory of Music (predecessor to Juilliard). She performed many recitals at Steinway Hall and Carnegie Hall. She married Phillip Cogan, a sales executive, in the 1930s and became the parents of Michelee. They divorced after eight years.

She married lyricist Nelson Cogane on June 15, 1942. Mrs. Cogane was involved in a car accident in Minnesota in which her father, mother and daughter Michelle were killed. After she and her husband moved to Massapequa, she began teaching area students. Nelson Cogane died on 1985. Mrs. Cogane is survived by her daughter Karen-Cherie Cogane and her brother Dr. Zondal Miller. Arrangements were made by the Charles G. Schmitt Funeral Home, Seaford. Religious service. Cremation private.

James J. Watt, 68, of Massapequa, died on Oct. 7, 1998. Born in Brooklyn, he graduated from Brooklyn Prep School and received his bachelor's and master's degrees in education from Hofstra University. He joined the Air Force and later taught at Carman Road School becoming a supervisor. He then taught at East Lake School retiring in 1991. Husband of Joan (Wayrick). Father of James, Margaret Lynch, Edward, Daniel, Michael, Raymond, Joan Weaver, Joseph, Mary Ann Lagnese, Kathryn Lavin, Jonathan, Jeanne and Annie. Brother of Mary Carney, Florence Beck, Joan O'Connor, Ann Mannix, Edward and John Watt. Arrangements were made by the Massapequa Funeral Home. Mass at St. William the Abbot RC Church. Interment St. Charles Cemetery. Dominick Campo, of Massapequa formerly of Seaford, died on Oct. 7, 1998. Owner of Kitchens by Mr. D. Husband of Joann (nee Fey). Father of Dominick F., Joseph R., Daniel T. and Jacquelyn C. Brother of Philip, Joseph, Vito and Rosa Sanzone. Arrangements were made by the Charles G. Schmitt Funeral Home, Seaford.
