After months of discussion and weeks of campaigning to the public, the Massapequa School District's proposed $49.9 million bond Issue passed by an overwhelmingly large margin - 2,531 for and 942 against - on Tuesday, Oct 20.

Town Officials Call for Speeding Crackdown in the Massapequas
In an attempt to cut down the number of traffic-related injuries and accidents, Oyster Bay Town Supervisor John Venditto, and Councilmen Angelo A. Delligatti and Joseph D. Muscarella, are calling for a major police crackdown on speeding and dangerous driving along the 3.2 mile stretch of Broadway and North Broadway in Massapequa and North Massapequa.

Five Kilometer Run Kicks Off Oyster Festival
The 11th annual 5 Kilometer Run served as the kickoff for the Oyster Festival last Saturday, Oct. 17. When the dust had settled, Donna McMahon was the overall women's winner once again. She crossed the finish line in 18 minutes, 17 seconds, comfortably in front of second place finisher Kathy Martin of Northport (18:54) who was the overall women's winner in 18:54.

Massapequa and Farmingdale Runners Invited To Rob's Run
Runners and walkers of all ages and abilities from the Massapequas and Farmingdale are cordially invited to sign up for the 6th annual edition of "Rob's Run", a 5 Kilometer Cross Country race and team competition to be held on Sunday morning, Nov. 29, starting and finishing at Stillwell Woods Town Park on South Woods Road in Syosset. The starting gun will go off promptly at 9 AM.
