I am writing this letter in support of the custodial staff of Fairfield School and in response to the indirect attacks I have read in your paper. I know from first-hand experience that Fairfield School has never looked so good. Our custodial staff, headed by Charles Molloy, does an excellent job despite all adverse conditions that may arise.

In response to the bushes that have died in our landscaping project, not all of them perished due to neglect. Speaking from experience, any time you take on a large planting, you are bound to lose some. Of the 2,950 plantings that occurred during our landscaping project, only 1.2 percent did not survive. In addition, the children are not always respectful of all living things. Just over this past holiday, several bushes were trampled or ripped out altogether.

This summer Fairfield had a cherished member of its staff retire. Fairfield also hosted summer school as well as summer rec. Taking this into consideration along with vacation and work schedules, Fairfield was spic and span and ready to welcome our children back on Sept. 9.

Our halls are painted bright and cheerfully. Our floors are always clean enough to eat off. The front of Fairfield was breathtaking during the spring and summer months. As PTA president and a mother of two children at Fairfield, it has always been a pleasure to work with Mr. Molloy and his staff. They take care of all our needs in a timely fashion and always have a smile on their face. Perhaps most important of all is that I know my children are in a safe and clean environment in which to learn and isn't that what it is all about?
