After enjoying unprecedented success in the 1998 Little League season, culminating with winning the coveted Long Island Championship, the 10-year-old and the 12-year-old tournament team from the Massapequa Coast Little League were honored by the Town of Oyster Bay on last week at a special ceremony prior to the "Music Under the Stars" concert performance of Ana Maria Alberghetti at John J. Burns Town Park in Massapequa.

"It is the first time in its 42-year history that a Massapequa Coast Little League team has won a Long Island Championship," said Venditto. "Unbelievably, two teams from the same league accomplished the feat in the same year."

Venditto added he is pleased to recognize the teams for their remarkable accomplishments. "Players, coaches, managers and parents all deserve credit for their total dedication," the Supervisor said. "We invite all our residents to be on hand to honor the young ball players and to enjoy an evening of outstanding music."
