I am writing to inform the readers of the Massapequan Observer of the 4th Annual Baldinger's NFL Football Clinic, to be held on Saturday, July 11 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at John Burns Park on Merrick Road in Massapequa, co-sponsored by the Massapequa Kiwanis Foundation, and is open to boys 8-12 years of age. This year's event will once again feature a free punt, pass, and kick competition from 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
As you may know, the Baldingers, Gary, Brian and Rich, were the only trio of brothers to play in the NFL from 1986 through 1993. The clinic is an opportunity for us to give back something to the community that has supported us through the years.
Our last clinic was attended by over 150 youths who benefited from a day of fun and football, with emphasis on the fundamentals. Over $2,500 was raised for the Massapequa Kiwanis Foundation, which funds youth and sports projects, both school and community sponsored, including Key Clubs in three area high schools. Additionally, over $7,500 worth of merchandise and give-aways were distributed to the participants and coaches.
Increasingly, community service organizations like Kiwanis International are the only avenue for providing quality programs and directions for our youth. We need your help and support. Any donations that you can provide to be used as give-aways and raffles for this event, will be most graciously appreciated. Through your generous donations, we anticipate exceeding our current goal of raising over $3,500 at this year's event. Every opportunity to publicize your generosity will be utilized, including site signage, press releases, programs, and formal presentations.
I am hopeful that you will be able to assist us with this worthy cause. Please feel free to contact me at 795-7911, fax at 798-2236 or by mail at 114 Adam Road, Massapequa, NY 11756. I would be pleased to provide you with any additional information and look forward to your favorable response.
Gary Baldinger, Chairman
