The New York Saints defeated the second-place Baltimore Thunder in sudden-death overtime, 17-16, saturday night, March 28, that kept alive their playoff hopes. A crowd of nearly 10,000 MILL fans rocked the Nassau Coliseum from the opening play to long after the final buzzer of the overtime period.
It was Kiwanis Family Night at the Coliseum and fans who purchased their tickets from a Kiwanian helped to raise over $1,500 for the "Kiwanis Pediatric Trauma Center," North Shore University Hospital. The trauma center is co-funded by all of the downstate Kiwanis Clubs. Upstate clubs co-fund trauma centers in Albany and Buffalo.
Susan C. Ganey, governor of the New York District of Kiwanis and a resident of Hamburg, a suburb of Buffalo, made the trip down to Uniondale to be with her fellow Kiwanians. Ganey said, "This was the first professional lacrosse game I have ever been to; it was great and exciting to watch."
