While reading the Massapequan Observer, I came across the article and advertisement for Project Recovery and the issues related to substance abuse. As the clinical director at YES Community Counseling Center, I couldn't agree with you more. Treatment does work, but only if you attend. One of the biggest obstacles in treatment, however, is getting there. While there are many programs throughout the Island that provide much needed services, it is important for readers to know that there are local agencies in the community that are funded to assist those who have a problem with substance abuse which are more accessible.

I would like to take this opportunity to let our community members know that YES Community Counseling Center is one such program. Services are available Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m.-10 p.m., and Fridays, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. For more information or to request assistance, community members can call 799-3203. The agency will also provide resource and referral information when appropriate.
