Salvatore C. Rotante, 82, of Massapequa, died on Jan. 19, 1998 after a long illness. Born in Buenas Aires, Argentina, he lived in Italy, coming to the United States when he was nine. Mr. Rotante worked for the Department of Defense making torpedoes during WWII. He was employed by the ILGWU and worked as the union's business agent in Manhattan and then on Long Island.
Mr. Rotante was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Seaford and the Sons of Italy in Farmingdale. He sang at many functions and entertained in nursing homes. He was a member of the Brady Park Seniors, Massapequa Park and the Men's Club.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Jean; his children Joanne Logan (John), John Rotante and Salvatore Rotante Jr. (Lisa); 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and his brothers Louis Rotante (Mary) and Joseph Rotante (Anna).
Arrangements were made by the James Funeral Home, Massapequa. Funeral Mass at St. William the Abbot RC Church. Interment St. Charles Cemetery.
