McKenna School's 40th Anniversary
September 1998 will mark the 40th anniversary of the former McKenna Junior High School which is now McKenna Elementary School. A 40th Anniversary Committee is planning a celebration of this Massapequa Park school that has served the community well in so many different ways: as a junior high school, a seventh grade center, an elementary school, a teacher training center, and a senior citizen center. Amityville High School Class of 1948 Reunion
Plans are under way for a reunion of members of the Amityville High School Class of 1948. Group information meetings will be held on Wednesdays at 10 a.m. Free services and options available to qualified LI residents. Paperback Books Wanted. If you have any used paperback books that are in good condition please donate them to the Farmingdale Library. They will be used in the successful paperback exchange program. All donations are appreciated. People-To-People Homebound Delivery Project. Farmingdale residents who are physically unable to leave their homes may receive the same service that their neighbors enjoy when they come to a local library. Easy-on-the-eyes large type books, "talking books" on disc or cassette (with playing equipment), reading and listening materials on all kinds of subjects are available. Everything You Wanted to Know About Cruising
Will be discussed by Margaret Yoniak, president of Vacation Plaza, Inc., certified "Master Cruise Counselor" and certified travel consultant. She will explain how to choose a ship, read a deck plan, select a cabin, what to expect on a cruise, what to pack, etc. She will also provide information on worldwide destinations, itineraries, differences between resort-style, premium and luxury cruises. The Golden Age of the English Garden
A slide/lecture presented by docents from Old Westbury Gardens. The Neo-classical or Georgian period will be explored as well as the principals of Adam, Kent, Capability Brown, Gertrude Jekyll and how these apply to emerging garden designs.
