McKenna School's 40th Anniversary
September 1998 will mark the 40th anniversary of the former McKenna Junior High School which is now McKenna Elementary School. A 40th Anniversary Committee is planning a celebration of this Massapequa Park school that has served the community well in so many different ways: as a junior high school, a seventh grade center, an elementary school, a teacher training center, and a senior citizen center. Amityville High School Class of 1948 Reunion
Plans are under way for a reunion of members of the Amityville High School Class of 1948. Defensive Driving Course
Presented by Driver Improvement Programs. Motorists who complete the course who are principal drivers must be given a 10 percent discount on both their automobile liability and collision premiums for three full years. The NYS Dept. of Motor Vehicles will reduce up to four points from the motorist's record for any infractions the motorist has been convicted of in the previous 18 months. Fee is $45. Historical Society of the Massapequas Open House
All members and friends are invited to attend this annual open house to celebrate the holiday season. Festivities will be held in their Old Grace Church headquarters, Merrick Rd. and Cedar Shore Dr. from 2 to 4 p.m. No admission charge. Program features traditional Christmas and Chanukah music, songs and carols. Soloist Joseph Caruso and sing-along led by Gary Hammond (trustee of the Seaford Historical Society) accompanied by the original Old Grace Church organ. Santa Claus will make his appearance at 3 p.m. under a beautifully decorated tree, with candy canes for children. Bring your camera. Eggnog, cider, cookies and other goodies will be served to all.
