Manhasset High School junior Alexandra Boisselle and her team, Skyliners Synchronized Skating Team, culminated their very successful season with a fifth place finish at the Junior World Championships in Gothenburg, Sweden on March 13.
They competed against 20 teams from 15 nations. Skyliners, one of two teams representing the United States, made their debut at the world championships and skated two beautiful programs, the short “A Tribute to 9/11, If I Had My Way” and the long to “Selections from E.S. Posthumus.” The United States, for the first time ever, had two teams in the top five, the only other country to do so was Finland.
Just the week before, Skyliners won the silver medal at the U.S. Junior National Championships in Minneapolis, Minnesota finishing just behind the reigning National Champions, Team Braemer. Skyliners won gold, as Team USA, in January at the Prague Cup in the Czech Republic defeating perennial powerhouse Sweden.
