The Manhasset 12U Travel Baseball team earned two titles in the span of four days in Aug. The team won the B Championship of the “Dog Days of Summer” tournament at the Sports at the Beach complex in Rehoboth, Delaware on Aug. 11, followed by the Hicksville John Walker Tournament championship on Aug. 14.
In Delaware, the Indians posted a 4-2 won-lost record against teams from New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Staten Island and upstate New York. The team won a thrilling championship game over Stealin’ Home of Pennsylvania, pulling out a 13-12 walk-off win.
In Hicksville, the Indians won the championship game by a score of 12-11 in extra innings over a strong Central Nassau team. After a two-out rally in the top of the 7th plated the go-ahead run, the Indians shut down Central Nassau to take the title. The Indians finished with an impressive 8-1-1 record overall in the tournament.
The Indians roster included Massimo Abruzzo, Will Allen, Joseph Brunetti, Chris Carillo, Robert DeCastro, Jack DeGaudenzi, Jack Hannan, Sean Holdreith, Edward Jarvis, James Marchetti, Winston Park, Nicky Quinn, Alex Racanelli, Thomas Santella, Jack Saville, Jay Schlaefer, Colby Schmidt, Jared Toby and Jeff Torborg.
The team was coached by Mike Brunetti, Jim Carillo, Bill Allen, Rob Saville, Sal Abruzzo and Greg Torborg.
