The Plandome Country Club kicked off summer golf fun with its Memorial Day mixer patterned on an old-fashioned state fair. A carousel horse was front and center for rides, members tried their strength at ringing the bell, and fortunes were read at the first tee. After a challenging 18 holes in swirling winds, all were entertained with adorable piglet and miniature dachshund races during the cocktail hour. The day was such a success that Chairpersons Maura Connolly and Laura Grimes were booked on the spot for the 2014 event.

The Memorial Day event followed the two-day PLGO Plandome Cup, which started in mid-May.
The first round was played on a cold May 14. Two-player teams competed in a best ball format. The temperature climbed to well above 80 degrees when the teams returned on Tuesday, May 21, competing in a Pinehurst Chapman.
The winners were Jayne Cardascia and Maureen Paladino. Runners-up were Camille DeAngelo and Margo Vignola.
