MHS Novice Crews Row For Autism

Racing on local Hempstead Harbor waters, on Saturday, April 13, Manhasset’s High School crew team participated in the 2nd Annual Row for Autism hosted by the Port Rowing Club and co-sponsored by the Town of North Hempstead. MHS Crew sent four boats to support the fundraising event and compete along with the 18 other high school and club teams that participated.

Manhasset’s Mens and Womens Novice squads proudly claimed three Gold and one Bronze Medal for their four entries in the regatta. Representing Manhasset in the event were:

Mens 2nd Novice 8+, Gold - 1st place: Garen Dadourian (coxswain), Biagio Raimondi, Ian Choe, Alex Donovan, Owen Gahan, Owen Ferris, John Petrakis, Daniel Yunakov, Matt Alonso

Mens 1st Novice 8+, Bronze (3rd in heat, 7th overall): Lucas Alcaraz (coxswain), Peter Furlong, Tyler Lew, Prajanan Senthil-Kumar, Alex Demeri, Anthony Raimondi, Vincent Tomaselli, Michael Ottavio, Vincent Caliendo

Womens 1st Novice 8+, Gold - 1st place: Kalli Kapetanos (coxswain), Irene Karantzios, Emma Gillis, Chloe Murphy, Sylvanna Schiefele, Victoria Radman, Julia Henry, Julie Alonso, Laila Lapins

Womens 2nd Novice eight, Gold - 1st place: Amanda Kelly (coxswain), Emma Gillis, Elisa DeSousa,  Sylvanna Schiefele, Dana McCarney, Colleen Conlan, Victoria Radman, Katarina Base, MaryKate Scrobe

MHS Crew Head Coach Hugo Guardado-Henriquez, along with Novice Girls Coach Rachel Roth and Novice Boys Coach Kyle Daley, were extremely pleased with the team’s outstanding performance overall. Coach Hugo noted, “The strong results our athletes achieved across all the events is very promising. With continued hard work, our Novice rowers should have an exciting season ahead.”
