Saint Mary’s Summer Sports Camp Registration Under Way

Saint Mary’s College Preparatory High School, Manhasset, is pleased to announce that registration is now open for all summer camp programs for 2009. This year the programs include lacrosse, basketball, soccer and a kid’s all sport camp.
In today’s competitive arena, the staff at St. Mary’s understands that you have many choices when choosing the right camp for your child. St. Mary’s has an outstanding facility to provide the perfect place for your child to learn from experienced coaches and educators who have years of experience working with children. It is their mission to ensure that your child’s camp experience is a safe, positive, fun learning experience!

When it comes to athletics, Camp Director Matt Panetta is no stranger on the field. He has dedicated his life to the sport of lacrosse and has excelled on the field from high school through the pros. Panetta is known for his titles as NCAA three time All-American while at Johns Hopkins University; a Major League Lacrosse All-Star for Bridgeport Barrage and the Long Island Lizards; and National Lacrosse League All-Pro with the New York Saints. He has also coached the game at every level possible. This unique combination of both playing and coaching at all levels has given him perspective and insight few people can match. As the camp director, Panetta is able to bring together coaches from other sports and create a line-up for summer fun, in a safe and structured environment. All camps are held on the St. Mary’s turf field, as well as in the three gymnasiums on the campus.

Panetta stated, “The goal of the lacrosse camp is to improve the individual skills and team play of each athlete, as well as his/her overall understanding of the game. The focus is also on the need to continually improve, no matter what the ability level. Campers will leave with vastly improved skills as well as more confidence in their game. They invite you and your athletes to join them as they continue to build Long Island’s reputation as the strongest hotbed of lacrosse in the world.”
Basketball Director/Coach Bill Harkins keeps the camp size to a minimum so he can give each individual camper his maximum attention. He is proud to say that “My camp is not about size, it is all about skill and athletic development.”
Camp counselors serve as role models for campers and build positive relations between counselor and camper. St. Mary’s Kids All-Sport Camp is an exciting youth summer camp where girls and boys ages 6-12 come to develop athletic ability and learn important life skills through a wide variety of activities and experiences.
