On Saturday, June 27, the Rocky Pacent Softball Fund hosted its first “Non-Event” to raise money for a new state-of-the-art ball field at Manhasset High School. Over 160 families participated in the “Non-Event,” and balloons were flying over each house on Saturday.
Balloons were also flying down Plandome Road as a reminder of this “Non-Event” that was taking place throughout the day. In case you missed the event, there is still time to participate. Anyone can choose, anytime, to not attend this event. So if you forgot to send in your donation, were too busy with the end of the school year activities, or simply inadvertently tossed it away, please go to www.RockyPacentField.org, download a donation form, send it in, and choose to participate in the “Non-Event,” anytime you wish. A great deal of progress was made toward their goal, but they are not there yet.
Special thanks goes out to: John Kiggins of Manhasset Sporting Goods for all his help with email blast reminders; Les and Mike from Minuteman Press for helping with the printing of invitations, stuffing envelopes and mailing labels; Doris Murray for invitation design; Nancy Morris of State Farm Insurance for soliciting Plandome Road Merchants; Young’s liquors and the balloon delivery committee led by Gale and Ken Lind. They would also like to thank Gallery Couture and Molinari Jewelers for their support.
This summer, Manhasset will be fielding two girl’s softball teams in the Williamsport Little League tournament, and three teams in the Glen Cove Mayor’s Trophy tournament. Over 50 Manhasset girls, from the third grade through the seventh grade are participating this year. Manhasset will also be the host town for the Williamsport tournament this year, with all games being played at Manhasset’s own Valley Field. Schedules for this year’s Manhasset games are as follows: U12 girls – July 7 and July 9 (6 p.m.) and July 11 (10 a.m.) U10 girls – July 14 and July16 (6 p.m.) and July18 (1 p.m.)
Come down and support your daughters, friend’s daughters and neighbors.
