Lead The Way Fund’s Lacrosse Day For Heroes

Friday, 13 April 2012 00:00

On Saturday, April 28, the Lead The Way Fund will host its annual Lead The Way Lacrosse Day For Heroes “Regs Rock” game at Chaminade High School in Mineola. The Lead The Way Lacrosse Day For Heroes is a two-game shootout between the country’s best high school lacrosse teams, the Chaminade Flyers vs. the Manhasset Indians. The one day event, which last year attracted over 2,000 spectators, recognizes past and present protectors of the flag and honors the life of local hero Sgt. James J. Regan (CHS ‘98), who was killed in action while serving with the 75th Ranger Regiment soldiers. And 100 percent of the proceeds from the day will go directly to the Lead The Way Fund.

Stellar D Leads To Manhasset Win

Written by Joe Enea Friday, 13 April 2012 00:00

When Cold Spring Harbor plays Manhasset it is always a game to watch. On Wednesday, April 4, Cold Spring Harbor (4-2) visited Manhasset (3-1) and Manhasset came away with a respectable victory.

As the sun waned the lights on the field became bright and one of the most unusual things happened. Evan Molloy exited the goal, running purposefully when he crossed midfield. Molloy ran up to about the 40-yard line of the opposing defense and fired a shot on target. The goal was at the 10:11 mark of the game. What a great way to start off the scoring for Manhasset.

On The Bay: April 4, 2012

An interesting story appeared in my inbox this past week, compliments of Scuttlebutt. It is extreme racing up close and personal. And since the weather has been nice, most likely anyone owning a boat was either frostbiting, or in the boatyard either preparing their boat for the spring or thinking about it. So the story below is just a tease to all you sailor-racers out there… to get your blood flowing a bit faster, and get you motivated to launch your boats. While Manhasset Bay is not the Southern Ocean, it is ours, conveniently located right out our backdoor.

The Tebow Trade: Fans Weigh In

Pros and cons of acquiring the former Heisman winner

Last week, the New York Jets stunned the sports world with its sudden pickup in a trade of Tim Tebow.

Following the earlier and equally stunning news that future Hall of Fame quarterback Peyton Manning would sign as a free agent with the Denver Broncos, Tebow, a Heisman Trophy winner, found himself on the trade block. The Jets swooped in and acquired the lefty, while surrendering two mid-round draft picks. So, what’s the early verdict?

Friday, 23 March 2012 00:00

The fifth annual Angela Miller Memorial Lacrosse Clinic will take place on Sunday, March 25, at Manhasset High School. The AAMML will partner with Monsters Kids Charitable Foundation benefiting the North Shore LIJ Cohen Children’s Medical Center.

Angela was a great wife and friend to Bill Miller, who has helped run the Manhasset Lacrosse PAL for over 40 years. She supported him in coaching and teaching the children the importance of athletics and what it means to give back to your community. Angela was a friend to many, but a mother figure to so many more in the Manhasset community.
