With summer almost gone and the advent of Labor Day, new and transfer students entering grades two through six were made welcome by Munsey Park classmates. The ambassadors are Munsey Park student volunteers who are paired with new students according to grade. The social held before school starts enables new students to familiarize themselves with Munsey Park Elementary School, meet a buddy and get to know one another. The social included a tour of the school, meeting key administrators and enjoying an ice cream treat from Manhasset’s favorite ice cream man, Yanni.
Munsey Park’s Principal, Dr. Jean Kendall and Mrs. Murray, assistant principal, welcomed everyone. The new students and their families gathered on the playing ground and were greeted in by Liz Tomaselli, Munsey Park’s School Community
President and members of her staff. “The ice cream social was great!” said Kristen Ryan, vice president of Munsey Park’s SCA. There were more than 20 new students (not including kindergarten) entering Munsey Park this year. “Lucy Choy Puma did a fabulous job putting together this fantastic event.” said Ryan.
