The Manhasset High School Theatre Department has reached out to the Scholars’ Academy in Rockaway Beach, Queens to help with their upcoming performance of Into The Woods as it was hit hard by Hurricane Sandy. The auditorium was flooded with nearly five feet of water, and the drama department lost all of its stored costumes and props.
When Manhasset resident Adrienne Grande heard a story on National Public Radio, she contacted Manhasset High School’s Drama Director and teacher, Robb Fessler. Coincidentally, Fessler had just heard the story on WNYC radio and had also been wondering what the school could do to help. Together, Grande and Fessler contacted Leslie Kohn, the theater arts teacher at Scholars’ Academy and offered to lend her costumes Manhasset High School had used for its 2010 production of the same play. Ms. Kohn was elated. The Scholars’ Academy performance is scheduled for June 7 in Rockaway Park.
The entire Manhasset Theatre Department family wishes them a wonderful production
