Letter: Vote for Greg Johnston

First of all, I’d like to thank all the candidates for running, it shows great enthusiasm for our community, for our children and their futures. Each has unique abilities that they bring to the process.

However, Greg Johnston has caught my eye as the candidate who has the ability to reclaim the transparency and accountability of the community. Johnston’s priorities are forward looking and his experience has proven that he is apt for the position. Please consider the following:

Greg Johnston views achieving excellence in education as a top priority.

Greg Johnston will be an independent board member; accountable and responsive to the community.

Greg Johnston’s two years on School District Citizen’s Advisory Committee on Finance was all the time he needed to take action.

Greg Johnston’s message has been consistent and unwavering.

Greg Johnston is not afraid to ask the difficult questions, to raise issues and work with the board and community to solve them.

For too long we have ignored the 800-pound gorilla in the room. We need greater transparency to engage the community in order to make informed decisions. Greg Johnston has emerged as a source of hope for elevating the quality of the community of Manhasset, particularly for the school district. His work over the past two years has been truthful and selfless, and his background in finance makes him the right choice. Greg Johnston is the best-equipped candidate to efficiently and effectively utilize the taxpayers’ dollars for the betterment of our schools.

Greg Johnston is not a longtime politician, he is a voice of reason, a passionate individual who wants to restore the accountability of the community, and improve the quality of life and education for our children.

Please make sure to vote in the school board election on May 18 at the high school gym. For our community and for our children, vote for Greg Johnston.
