As a Manhasset resident and Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist, I urge other Manhasset residents to check out the farmers market on Sundays. There are two excellent farmers (one from out East and one from Putnam County) with a wide ride variety of healthy local produce who are at 125 Community Drive from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Prices are reasonable and everything is fresh. Try one of the four or five varieties of vine ripened tomatoes. Choose some fresh picked corn to have at your barbecue. Other choices include greens, beets, potatoes, summer squash, multiple varieties of lettuce, etc. You can also find other additional goodies such as farm fresh eggs and beautiful fresh flowers. LIGreenmarket.org that organizes and runs the market also does an interesting food demo each week and also sells a locally produced food such as honey, jam, etc. Let’s support our local green market, eat delicious fresh food and get healthy at the same time.
