(Editor’s Note: This letter was sent to Manhasset School District Superintendent Charles Cardillo and to the Manhasset Press for publication.)
Thank you for honoring our son, Adam, and all of the other student inductees, by your presence at this year’s International Thespian Honor Society ceremony.
Held on a Tuesday at MHS’s Black Box Theatre, at 7:30 p.m., when most educators are enjoying a well deserved night off, you and Music and Fine Arts Director Anthony Ambrogio and theatre educator Robert Fessler sacrificed your personal, after-hours time quite early in the year, to pay tribute to some of Manhasset’s hardest working and talented actors and stage crew.
During my years at Munsey Park and MHS, it was a privilege that such luminaries as Coach Alan Dawson, Principal Charles McNally, Vice Principal (and former band educator) Frank Smith, Superintendents Don Grote, Don Harkness, educators Dave Doorey and Dr. David Dorman, and too many others to name, graced and motivated us with their leadership, their love of teaching and mentoring.
As a family with four Shelter Rock graduates (Jacob in Middle School, Adam, Emma and Sydney at the High School), we are hard pressed to recall NOT seeing you at an event, big or small, and we are particularly fond of your occasional early morning carpool greetings!
To our family, your omnipresence is an extraordinary manifestation of your love for, and commitment to, the students of the Manhasset School System. There is no doubt that you are distinguishing yourself as one of Manhasset’s greatest superintendents.
