Obituary: Martha Carey Howard

Born in St. Paul, North Carolina, on July 7, 1921, Martha Carey Howard passed away peacefully in Monterey, California on Aug. 4, 2010. Carey lived most of her life in Manhasset, New York, where she was an active member of the Congregational Church. An honors graduate of the University of North Carolina Women’s College, Carey served as president of the American Association of University Women. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth J. Howard, Sr., in 1995, and her younger son, Donald, in 1999. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Ken and Linda Howard, of Los Angeles, California. The ceremony was private.
