Robert J. Mozer, died peacefully in his Manhasset home of 51 years on October 21, 2013. He was 81. The cause of death was heart failure.
A graduate of Loyola High School, Fordham College and Fordham Law School, he began his career at the Waterfront Commission, which ensured fair hiring practices in the New York area ports. He went on to found the firm of Herold, Luca, Persky and Mozer which engaged principally in labor union law.
In later years, he was a founding partner of Mozer and Swetnick. He was general council to the National Council of Senior Citizens which was sponsored by the AFL-CIO and United Steel Workers. His firm represented a number of unions ranging from the Restaurant Workers Union to Disney World. He was always a social activist beginning with his work with the Association of Catholic Trade Unionists and Dorothy Day’s Catholic Worker.
He was the beloved husband of Patricia, devoted father of 8; Joanne Schrieber (Randy), Paul Mozer (Francine), Brian Mozer (Terri), Erica Leslie (William), Lisa Mozer-Agte (Bruce), Peter Mozer (Deborah), Caryn Kelley (Michael) and Kevin Mozer; treasured grandfather of 22 and cherished great-grandfather of 6.
A very special and unique presence has been taken from our lives. We will treasure his memory forever.
