Obituary: Mary Jane Milton

Mary Jane Milton, surrounded by her loving family, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 16, 2013.

Mary Jane is survived by her loving husband Jim, her adoring children Jim, Dennis (Margaret), Dan (Molly), and Sean, and her grandchildren Haley, Jack, Margot, Patrick, Brendan, Rowan, James, Eve, and Jasper. She was supremely dedicated to her family, with whom she showered with great care, love and wisdom.

Mary Jane was raised as the eldest of nine children of Jack and Frances Doran. Her sisters (Kathleen, Patricia, Suzanne, and Eileen) and brothers (John, Dennis, William, and Timothy) had remained an important and enduring presence in her life.

A graduate of St. Mary’s High School in Manhasset, NY, and Manhattanville College, she raised her family in Short Hills, NJ before recently moving Summit, NJ. She also resided part-time in North Palm Beach, FL. Throughout her life she made many friends that she cherished throughout her endeavors.

Mary Jane was very proud of her volunteer work at Overlook Hospital in Summit, NJ.  She was also a long-time member, and Chairperson, of the Millburn-Short Hills Recreation Commission, and enjoyed her participation in the Junior League of the Oranges and Short Hills.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at The Jacob A. Holle Funeral Home, 2122 Millburn Avenue, Maplewood on Wednesday from 7 to 9 pm and Thursday from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Rose of Lima R.C. Church, 50 Short Hills Ave., Short Hills on Friday, Sept. 20th at 10 am. Interment St. Rose of Lima Cemetery, Short Hills.
