James P. Flynn, 74, a longtime resident of Manhasset, since 1973, and Jupiter Florida, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Oct. 14.
Jim, as he was known by friends and family, founded Darik Enterprises in New York City in 1962 and built it into one of the country’s leading seafood importers.
He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Bonnie and his children, Carol (Charles Kintzing), Diane, Barbara (James Bruderman), and James Jr. (Stephanie Flynn). Brother to Thomas, predeceased by his sister Jeanne. Grandfather to Kimberly (Szymon Rozga), Brian, James III, Mia, Maggie, Megan and Kate.
He was a man of great character, quiet strength and grace, and all who had the opportunity to know, and love him, are blessed to have had him in their lives.
A funeral mass was celebrated on Tuesday, Oct. 19 at St. Mary’s R.C. Church.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial donations be made to Jupiter Medical Center Foundation, 1210 South Old Dixie Highway, Jupiter, FL 33458, www.jmcfoundation.org and marked in memory of James P. Flynn.
