Alicia and Andre Kim, renting since February, opened Artifacts Gallery at 407 Plandome Road on April 27. Gift items, home décor and interior design service are just a sample of what the team offers. “We have a lot of resources and will shop an item for you,” Alicia said, adding, “There is no limit as to location or style of work. “ She has even designed for a local soap opera star, but said she doesn’t have permission to use her name.
Alicia went to architectural school in Korea and, relocating to the United States, transferred her major to interior architecture. For five years, she worked at GHK Associates, very well-known in interior design circles, she said, when bought by the Nelson Company.
For several years Alicia concentrated on starting her family and running her own business. She operated Artifacts at Home on Jericho Turnpike in Woodbury.
Artifacts Gallery, next door to Bob’s Photo, sells artwork, furniture, accessories, unique gifts, window treatments—a top to bottom operation--where Kim designs, buys merchandise and creates the displays.
The design service consultation is complimentary in that there is a small fee to visit the home and take measurements, and, if a certain amount is spent, the fee is deductible.
Alicia Kim said walk-ins will find something to make them happy and she looks forward to meeting the rest of the community, explaining so many have already stopped in to wish her well and welcome her to Manhasset.
