The weather on Sunday, Oct. 23, was perfect for the Manhasset Women’s Coalition Against Breast Cancer’s (MWCABC) 13th Annual 5K Walk/Run. Over 800 participated this year in the very popular event that draws every age group and has become a cherished family tradition. Mary Jane Davies Park on Plandome Road was the official starting point and a huge pink crowd gathered, eying their watches, awaiting the 9:30 start time.
The Run For The Cure celebrates and remembers those who have been touched by breast cancer, and the event raises money for research and support programs. Awards are given in many age categories and full results of the race can be found at http://www.start2finish.com/2011race.htm
Christine O’Connor and Becky Donahue were the race organizers for this years blockbuster event.
