Will present its 20th Annual Christmas Concert at the Congregational Church of Manhasset, Northern Blvd., at 4 p.m. This year’s program will open with the Christmas portion of Handel’s Messiah and the Hallelujah chorus. The chorus, includes long time Great Neck resident Nancy Corn who has enjoyed her participation as a soprano with this enormously talented choir for 9 years. The choir and soloists will be conducted by Craig Tocher and accompanied by organ and strings. Featured performers include organist Judith Feuss and, Molley Davey, soprano, Melissa Maravell, contralto, Robert Horowitz, tenor, and Jason Hendrix, baritone. The second half of the program will feature Gloria by John Ness Beck, A Musicological Journey Through the Twelve Days of Christmas and a surprise humorous work by P.D.Q. Bach. Solo and ensemble works also will be sung by choir members. The festivities will end with a rousing audience sing-a-long, accompanied beautifully by organ and strings.

Designed for all levels of Jewish learners, Rabbi Todd Chizner will guide study of the Torah in this interactive, exciting examination of the Jewish holy book. Active Seniors of Manhasset meets every Tuesday from 11:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. in rented quarters at the Unitarian Church on Shelter Rock Rd. Phyllis Becker is its director and leads the group in its activities including luncheons at local restaurants. Because many of the group no longer drive, bus transportation is available. The Court of Champions Tennis Committee is having a “Winter Classic” fundraiser to help raise funds for the three additional tennis courts to be built at the Manhasset H.S. The Nassau County Art Museum is open Tuesday through Sunday 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Closed Mondays. The museum offers docent-led tours for individuals or families every Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday at 2 p.m. Each tour can accommodate up to 20 people. No reservations are required, but spaces are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. The tours are free with paid admission. Shelter Rock Church, 626 Plandome Rd., offers a weekly support group called Single Again for people going through separation and divorce. Using a series of videos, topics such as anger, financial issues and loneliness are covered and discussed from a Biblical prospective. Problems such as finances, childcare, visitation schedules, grandparents, extended family and demanding work schedules can overwhelm a single parent. North Shore Child and Family Guidance Center, through the Single Parent Action Network, offers support services, workshops and community meetings for single parents with children 18 years of age and younger. If you need to talk to someone who cares, call Tel-A-Teen at 254-BE-OK, Monday through Saturday from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Tel-A-Teen is a youth phone center answered by teen “sharers” under the supervision of an adult.
The Nassau County Coalition Against Domestic Violence is the service provider in Nassau County for the victims of domestic or dating violence, sexual assault and elder abuse. The Coalition operates a fully staffed, 24-hour hotline (516) 542-0404. Counseling, safe housing, advocacy and legal assistance are available in a warm, supportive, professional atmosphere. For women who are victims of violent behavior, safety is a major concern. Therefore the coalition operates a safe home in Nassau County for battered women and their children. Advocates are also available Monday through Friday in Family Court and at Domestic Violence Court in Criminal Court and are on-call 24 hours a day for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault in local hospital emergency rooms. AARP Widowed Persons Service in Nassau County offers emotional support, counseling and other services to recently widowed men and women of all ages. The program is free of charge and open to all Nassau County residents. The service offers the help of trained volunteers, all of whom have been widowed themselves.
