Join a group of active, savvy men and women, who meet every Thursday afternoon at 2 p.m. to discuss what goes on in the world, everywhere—from the county to Albany, Washington, Europe, Asia, and all over the map. On June 13, Jeigh Duran will be your session leader, moderating the opinions and strategies. No charge to put in your own point of view. Thinking about seeing The Great Gatsby? So are the guys and gals in the Great Neck Veterans Group. On Friday, June 14 at 2 p.m., come join the vets, their spouses, and guests to hear Dr. Mischa Schwartz, a Ph.D. from Harvard, past president of the Great Neck Library Board, and a board member of the Great Neck Historical Society, who will discuss what went on in Great Neck during the Roaring Twenties. The meeting is free, and refreshments are courtesy of Atria Great Neck. The event will take place at the Great Neck Manhasset Community Senior Center, 80 Grace Ave., Great Neck.
Just in time for the summer season, the Manhasset Library has outfitted duffle bags with five of the summer’s hottest reads. Come and charge out your Manhasset Reads bag. Read at home; take the books to your summer place; leave a title in the guest bedroom for visitors; be transported while on vacation. Our duffle bags may be charged out for 28 days and are renewable. They will be available beginning on June 19th.
You can reduce points on your license, costs of insurance, and update your knowledge of the rules of the road by reserving a seat for the one-day course at the Great Neck Social Center. The course is being given Wednesday, June 19 from 9 a.m. through 5 p.m. Come into the Center to register in person. Your check must be made to AARP. The location is 80 Grace Avenue, Great Neck. The Village of Munsey Park’s monthly meeting for June takes place Wednesday, June 26, at 7:30 p.m. at 1777 Northern Blvd.
The Board of Commissioners of the Manhasset-Lakeville Water and Fire District has a summer schedule of public official meetings. The board will meet Thursdays at 5 p.m. through September 5 to discuss the weekly business of the district. The regular meeting schedule will resume September 10. All meetings will be conducted in the boardroom at the district office, 170 East Shore Rd., Great Neck. Regular office hours are 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. The board is available daily to respond to concerns, questions, and issues of district residents pertaining to water or fire district matters.
